City Plants Street Trees for Your Home

馃嚭馃嚫 Los Angeles, CA, United States 路 City Plants (City of Los Angeles / LADWP)

Free street trees permitted and planted in the parkway in front of your home or building

City Plants and its planting partners obtain the permit and plant free street trees in the parkway (the strip between sidewalk and street) in front of homes, apartments, businesses and schools in the City of Los Angeles. A City Plants inspector and certified arborist choose the location and species. The resident agrees to water the tree while it establishes.

Who qualifies

You must live in an area currently accepting new applications (check the eligibility map on the page) and have a parkway in front of your house or building with room for a tree. The page does not state whether renters can apply, but it refers to the parkway in front of your 'house or building'.

How to apply

Verify your address is in an area accepting applications, then use the APPLY NOW link on the page. Once planted, the tree needs water for the first 3-5 years while its roots grow in. Subscribe to the City Plants newsletter to be notified when your area opens.
