Fall ReLeaf Free Tree Program

馃嚭馃嚫 Cincinnati, OH, United States 路 Cincinnati Parks Urban Forestry

A free yard tree (valued at about $75) picked up at MadTree Brewing in October

Cincinnati Parks has given away free shade trees to city residents every fall for 38 years, more than 27,000 trees in all. Residents register online in September, choose a species and a pickup slot, and collect the tree at MadTree Brewing in mid-October to plant in their front or back yard. Neighborhoods with less than 40 percent tree canopy get a one-week head start on registration.

Who qualifies

You must own or have property within Cincinnati city limits and plant the tree there; the form asks for the first three digits of your Hamilton County parcel ID. Front- and backyard planting is allowed, not the strip between street and sidewalk. Residents of priority neighborhoods under 40% canopy (for example Avondale, Over-the-Rhine, Walnut Hills, West End) register first.

How to apply

Register at cincinnatiparks.regfox.com when applications open (2026: Saturday, September 12 at 8 am for low-canopy neighborhoods; Saturday, September 19 at 8 am for all city residents) and pick a pickup time. 2026 pickups were October 14, 17 and 19 at MadTree Brewing, 3301 Madison Rd. Trees not picked up at the scheduled time go back to Cincinnati Parks. Help choosing a tree: 513-861-9070.
