Tree Planting Cost-Share Grant

馃嚭馃嚫 WY, United States 路 Wyoming State Forestry Division, Urban and Community Forestry Program

50/50 matching grants of $1,000 to $5,000 for volunteer-driven tree planting on public property

This 50/50 cost-share grant helps local communities, non-profit groups, conservation organizations and others plant trees to improve urban and community forests. Grant requests range from $1,000 to $5,000 and must be matched equally with non-federal cash; a $1,000 request needs at least $1,000 in local cash for a $2,000 project. Up to 20 percent of the local match may go toward shrubs, and mulch, protective fencing, staking and irrigation can count toward project cost. Payments are reimbursements after the project is completed and documented with photos.

Who qualifies

Projects must involve volunteers (examples given include FFA chapters, 4-H clubs, Master Gardeners, garden clubs, tree boards and civic or non-profit groups), be on nonfederal publicly owned property such as gateways, greenways, urban riparian areas or public rights-of-way, and not already be funded. Trees must be single-stem, at least 1.5 inches in caliper (evergreens at least 4 feet tall) and meet ANSI Z60.1-2014 nursery stock standards, with at least five years of maintenance by a named person or agency.
