Forest Stewardship Program

馃嚭馃嚫 WY, United States 路 Wyoming State Forestry Division

Resource management advice and a long-term stewardship plan or shorter practice plan from a state forester, with no maximum acreage

The Forest Stewardship Program brings professional resource management expertise to private landowners across Wyoming and helps them develop management plans for their long-term objectives. Long-term plans cover the property's history, current condition and future potential and address water, vegetation, wildlife and soils. Landowners can also get help on a specific issue such as insect and disease identification, timber management or wildlife habitat without a full plan, which may result in an abbreviated practice plan. The division states that FSP is not a cost-share program; it provides sound resource management advice.

Who qualifies

Voluntary program open to individuals and non-commercial landowners who commit in good faith to carrying out the strategies in their plan. Participants generally own less than 1,000 acres, but there is no maximum ownership restriction.
