The Wisconsin DNR's Reforestation Program sells bareroot conifer, hardwood and shrub seedlings grown at the Griffith State Nursery in Wisconsin Rapids for reforestation and wildlife plantings. Orders are placed in the online nursery store, and the DNR offers low-cost delivery or pickup. County DNR foresters can help choose species and plan a planting.
Who qualifies
Orders require a MyWisconsin ID. Minimum order is a 300-tree packet chosen in 100-seedling increments, or 500 shrubs, or 1,000 trees; 100-400 of a species must be in lots of 100. Price breaks apply at 500 and 3,000 seedlings of one species.
How to apply
Order in the DNR nursery online store; fall ordering for spring planting opened at 8 a.m. on Monday, October 5. Orders cannot be edited after submission. Sales tax is added based on the delivery or pickup location; optional shipping is $7.00 for 300-1,000 seedlings or $0.70 per 100 above 1,000. Questions: 1-888-936-7463.
