County Forester Program
馃嚭馃嚫 VT, United States 路 Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation
A state County Forester will walk your woods with you, discuss your goals and point you to management professionals and programs
Vermont's County Foresters provide forest management and stewardship information, technical assistance and outreach to landowners. Staff can take a walk with you in your woods to look at the land, discuss your goals and review possible management activities, give you contact information for forest management professionals, and tell you about current state and federal programs including Use Value Appraisal (Current Use). Most County Foresters also help municipalities manage town forests. The department describes your local County Forester as your first and most valuable resource for learning how to manage your land.
Who qualifies
No eligibility rules are stated; the service is aimed at Vermont woodland owners and municipalities. The department notes there are limits to the amount of field work staff can do for any one landowner.
How to apply
Contact the County Forester for your county using the list at fpr.vermont.gov/forest/list-vermont-county-foresters. You can also join the Forest Landowner Mailing List from the program page. No deadline.
