Forest Stewardship Program
馃嚭馃嚫 United States 路 USDA Forest Service, delivered by state forestry agencies
Help from a state or consulting forester to write a Forest Stewardship Plan for your woodland, which also unlocks cost-share, tax and certification programs
The Forest Stewardship Program is a federal-state partnership that connects private woodland owners with foresters and planning tools. Working through state forestry agencies, cooperative extension and conservation districts, it helps owners write a Forest Stewardship Plan that sets goals for timber, wildlife, water and recreation and lists the actions needed. More than 25 million acres are managed under stewardship plans, and agroforestry practices are included.
Who qualifies
Owners of private forest land. Each state sets its own minimum acreage and any plan cost-share terms.
How to apply
Contact your state Forest Stewardship coordinator (linked from the program page) or your state forestry agency's landowner assistance office to request a visit and a plan.
