Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP)

馃嚭馃嚫 United States 路 USDA Farm Service Agency with state partners

Annual rental payments, up to 50% cost share and extra state incentives for planting trees and buffers in designated CREP project areas

CREP is a state-partnered offshoot of CRP. States, tribes and nonprofits sign agreements with FSA to target a specific problem (usually water quality) in a defined area, and landowners there get CRP rental payments plus added incentives for practices such as planting trees, native grasses and streamside buffers. Contracts run 10 to 15 years.

Who qualifies

Farmers and landowners with eligible land inside a designated CREP project area who can implement and maintain the practices. Project areas and rules vary by state agreement.

How to apply

Contact your local FSA office to ask whether your land is in a CREP project area and to submit an offer. Enrollment periods vary by project.
