Street Tree Request
馃嚭馃嚫 Baltimore, MD, United States 路 TreeBaltimore (Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks, Forestry)
City contractors plant and water (for two years) a street tree in the sidewalk next to your property
Baltimore City residents and property owners can ask Forestry to plant a street tree in the sidewalk next to their property, including cutting a new tree pit if none exists. An inspector evaluates the site, any preparation such as stump grinding or pit creation is done, and the location is assigned to a contractor for the next available planting season. Contractors water new trees for two years.
Who qualifies
Baltimore City residents and property owners. Planting your own tree in an existing pit requires a Forestry permit obtained through a 311 'Street Tree Inspection' request; a new pit also needs a Department of Transportation right-of-way permit, and your contractor must call Miss Utility (1-800-257-7777) before digging.
How to apply
Submit the Survey123 Street Tree Request form on the TreeBaltimore site; you receive an email link to check status. Questions: treesplease@baltimorecity.gov. You may have to wait a season or two.
