Tree for Me

馃嚭馃嚫 Cincinnati, OH, United States 路 Taking Root

Free 5-gallon, 5-6 foot trees for homeowners in selected low-canopy neighborhoods

Taking Root's Tree for Me gives free trees to homeowners in Cincinnati-region communities with low tree canopy, funded by the Duke Energy Foundation. Communities are selected each spring and fall when funds are available; homeowners in a selected area use the OKI Tree for Me online calculator to pick the right tree and planting spot. Over 1,500 trees have gone out since 2018.

Who qualifies

Homeowners in target neighborhoods chosen for low canopy and environmental-justice considerations. Past areas include Avondale, Bond Hill, Roselawn, Walnut Hills, North Avondale, East Walnut Hills, Camp Washington, Norwood, Lincoln Heights, Lockland, Reading, Woodlawn, Arlington Heights, Middletown, Fairfield, Covington and Newport (KY), Florence (KY), Aurora and Lawrenceburg (IN).

How to apply

There is no open sign-up form. If your community has an active round, use the Tree for Me calculator linked from takingroot.info/tree-for-me-2/. To ask about a distribution in your community, email info@takingroot.info.
