$500 for the first 40 acres plus $2.50 per additional acre, up to 50 percent of the cost and $1,500 per plan, toward hiring a professional forester to write a Forest Stewardship Plan on 20 or more forested acres

The Resource Conservation and Forestry Division reimburses landowners for part of the cost of having a natural resource professional with a forestry or related degree write a Forest Stewardship Plan. The rate is $500 for the first 40 acres and $2.50 per acre after that, not to exceed 50 percent of plan preparation cost, with a cap of $1,500 per plan. The application must be approved before the plan is written, the plan must meet State Forester criteria and be approved by the State Forester, and it should be finished within six months of approval. Payment follows plan approval and submission of an itemized cost statement and reimbursement forms.
