Forest Stewardship Program

Site visit and a 10-year Stewardship Plan from state foresters for anyone with 2 or more acres of nonfederal land
Nevada Division of Forestry staff work with landowners to write a Stewardship Plan: the landowner sets objectives, NDF staff tour the land and inventory its resources, NDF develops alternative management options, and the landowner picks one and the plan is signed. Plans can cover goals such as watershed and riparian restoration, habitat enhancement, invasive species removal and post-wildfire rehabilitation, and can be used when applying for financial assistance (Landscape Scale Restoration, NRCS EQIP and CSP, Urban and Community Forestry grants, the Nevada Sagebrush Ecosystem Program) and permits. NDF notes that many funding options require a match and reimburse only after work is done.
Who qualifies
Anyone with 2 or more acres on nonfederal land can have a Stewardship Plan.
