2 Billion Trees program
馃嚚馃嚘 Canada 路 Natural Resources Canada
Federal funding to organizations that plant trees; residents and landowners get trees through those delivery partners, not directly
A Government of Canada program that provides financial support to organizations to plant trees over ten years, to 2031. Individuals do not apply to it directly; provinces, municipalities, conservation authorities and nonprofits with 2BT agreements run the planting projects that landowners and residents can join.
Who qualifies
Funding went to organizations (governments, Indigenous groups, nonprofits, companies), not individuals. Landowners and residents access 2BT-funded trees through a delivery partner's own program and eligibility rules.
How to apply
The federal page states the program is no longer accepting applications for funding. It points to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities' Growing Canada's Community Canopies initiative and to the Reforest Canada Collective to find organizations with active 2BT agreements. Residents should contact their province, municipality or local conservation authority about 2BT-funded planting.
