Montana Conservation Seedling Nursery annual sale

馃嚭馃嚫 MT, United States 路 Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, Forestry Division

Native tree, shrub and grass seedlings and seed sold by the lot for conservation plantings in Montana

The state nursery in Missoula grows seed and seedlings of trees, shrubs, grasses and other plants for conservation work such as post-fire recovery, erosion control, windbreaks, wildlife habitat, forest health, Christmas tree farming and urban forestry. Small container seedlings are packaged in multiples of 24 and large container seedlings in multiples of 9; seed is sold by the gram, ounce or pound. Seedlings are delivered to a county you select or picked up at the nursery in Missoula; seed ships only to Montana addresses.

Who qualifies

Private landowners, conservation organizations, county conservation districts, Tribes, and state and federal agencies may order. Stock is for conservation projects only; the nursery does not sell plant material for liners or ornamental landscaping. New customers must order two nursery products (seed, seedlings or both). Orders of 1,000 or more seedlings require a contract.

How to apply

Order through the online portal at conservationseedlings.mtdnrc.gov once the sale opens; orders are first come, first served and cannot be accepted before the sale opens. Complete the Conservation Verification field at checkout. Seed and seedlings must be placed on separate orders unless you are picking up in Missoula. Payment is due on receipt; orders cannot be canceled after April 1. Questions: 406-542-4244 or mtnursery@mt.gov.
