Maine Forest Service District Forester woodland visit
馃嚭馃嚫 ME, United States 路 Maine Forest Service, Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry
Free two-hour-plus walk of your woodlot with a state District Forester who answers questions and suggests next steps
Maine Forest Service's ten District Foresters meet woodland owners on their property, walk the land, answer questions, suggest possible activities or next steps, and point owners to other information or assistance. Visits generally run two or more hours depending on the size of the woodlot, and the advice is free. Information about ownerships under 1,000 acres is kept confidential by law.
Who qualifies
Maine woodland owners; the request form asks for forested acreage and states a minimum of 10 acres. Requests are for landowner assistance only, not complaints about unauthorized activity.
How to apply
Submit the online District Forester visit request form (name, town, acreage, directions, contact details, preferred dates and goals), allowing at least 2 to 4 weeks lead time; visits are scheduled as District Forester time permits. You can also look up and call your District Forester directly from the MFS District Forester page.
