Financial assistance for prescribed burning, site preparation, tree planting and forest stand improvement on private forestland, from a $3 million, four-year fund
Launched June 2026 by LDAF and LDWF, the Louisiana Forestry Initiative (LFI) is a statewide cost-share for non-industrial private forest landowners, funded by the U.S. Forest Service and administered by the National Bobwhite and Grassland Initiative Foundation (NBGIF). It covers prescribed burning, site preparation, tree planting and forest stand improvement, with some priority areas identified, and will provide more than $3 million in assistance over four years. Landowners work with LDAF foresters and LDWF biologists on a management plan and sign contracts online.
