Adopt-A-Block (free tree for block captains)

馃嚭馃嚫 Indianapolis, IN, United States 路 Keep Indianapolis Beautiful with the City of Indianapolis

One free native tree per year, plus free perennials and a cleanup kit, for residents who adopt their block

Adopt-A-Block is a City of Indianapolis partnership run by Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. Residents, businesses and schools sign up as block captains and keep their block free of litter. In return each captain can get a free tree and free perennials each fall while supplies last, along with a free cleanup kit and access to small beautification grants.

Who qualifies

Residential blocks, businesses and schools in Indianapolis. KIB's FAQ says: "By joining our Adopt-A-Block program, you will be eligible to receive one free tree (per year) to plant on your property or to share with a neighbor. In return, you agree to clean your block on an ongoing basis." Captains submit a monthly litter log and blocks are scored quarterly.

How to apply

Use the "Adopt Your Residential Block" or business/school sign-up link on kibi.org/program/adopt-a-block/; check the Adopt-A-Block map first to see whether your block is already adopted. Contact (317) 264-7555.
