Take home a free 5-gallon yard tree the same day at a community event
City Plants and its partner nonprofits bring free 5-gallon yard trees to nearly 200 community events across Los Angeles each year. Residents show up, prove City of LA residency, and take a tree home the same day. Trees must be planted in the ground on private property, not kept in pots or planted on the street.
Who qualifies
You must be a resident of the City of Los Angeles and present a photo ID or LADWP bill to prove eligibility. Addresses that say 'Los Angeles' may be in unincorporated LA County and not qualify; the page suggests checking that your address returns a council district number.
How to apply
No application. Check the City Plants calendar for the next adoption event near you and bring photo ID or an LADWP bill. Trees are first come, first served. You can also sign up on the page to hear about upcoming adoptions.
