Individual Private Landowner Cost-Share Program
馃嚭馃嚫 AK, United States 路 Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry & Fire Protection
Reimbursement of up to $15,000, with no match required, for thinning, pruning, scarification, sanitation harvests and invasive species removal on 5 or more forested acres
A USDA Forest Service-funded cost-share program run by the Division of Forestry & Fire Protection. A Forest Stewardship Program forester verifies the need for eligible practices, usually with a site visit, and then develops a Forest Stewardship Plan with specific implementation requirements. Eligible practices are thinning to reduce stand density, pruning to remove ladder fuels, scarification to promote fire-resistant hardwood regeneration, sanitation harvests of insect-killed or damaged trees, and mechanical or chemical removal of invasive species, particularly Prunus padus and Prunus virginiana. Reimbursement uses predetermined rates set by the division (2026 rate sheet on the page).
Who qualifies
Individual private landowners with at least five acres of forest land. Properties within the Municipality of Anchorage are not eligible. Smaller adjacent parcels may be combined to meet the five-acre threshold, and owners of multiple parcels may submit a separate proposal for each qualifying unit.
