Converts conifer monocultures into broadleaf forest for groundwater; volunteer planting days each autumn

About

Trinkwasserwald plants deciduous trees on former conifer clearings in Lower Saxony, Hesse, the Harz and elsewhere, because broadleaf forest lets more rain reach the groundwater that most German tap water comes from. In 2025 it planted 95,600 trees of 23 species on about 28 hectares. You can sign up as a planting volunteer for the autumn dates, bring a family to a Tag des Waldes planting, or support the work with a membership from 60 euros a year.
