Volunteer group planting native trees in Hamilton parks and conservation areas each spring and fall
About
Trees for Hamilton plants native trees and shrubs where the city's canopy is thinnest, with the aim of lifting Hamilton's 19 percent tree cover toward the 30 percent Environment Canada recommends. In 2025 its volunteers put about 800 trees into parks and conservation areas such as Valens Lake and Fifty Point. Planting days are open to anyone, and donations buy the trees.
