Fundación Reforestemos

Santiago, Región Metropolitana, Chile · Nonprofit · National · since 2012

Chilean foundation that has planted over 1.7 million native trees since 2012, from Patagonia to Santiago

About

Fundación Reforestemos was born in 2012 as Reforestemos Patagonia after the Torres del Paine fire and now restores native forest across Chile, with projects also in Argentina, Peru and Colombia. It plants native species in national parks and reserves such as Reserva Nacional Coyhaique, runs a native-species nursery in Patagonia, offers a reforestation program for private landowners, and organizes volunteer and corporate planting days. It reports more than 1.7 million trees planted and projects in 128 communes.

What they run

Multi-stage lenga and coihue de Magallanes planting in Reserva Nacional Coyhaique, Aysén, begun in 2020 and now in monitoring.

Landowners apply to have native forest restored on private land with Reforestemos' technical support.

The foundation's own native-species nursery in Patagonia supplying its planting projects.
