Christian nonprofit pairing tree planting with savings groups and regenerative farming to end rural poverty

About

Plant With Purpose was founded in 1984 as Floresta by Tom Woodard after relief work in the Dominican Republic and adopted its current name in 2010; it is headquartered in San Diego, California. It works with rural farming families in nine countries (Burundi, DR Congo, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Haiti, Malawi, Mexico, Tanzania, Thailand) through 'Purpose Groups' that combine savings-and-loan groups, farmer-to-farmer training in regenerative agriculture and agroforestry, tree planting, and church partnerships, and it commissions a triennial external impact study.

What they run
