Lasy Państwowe (Polish State Forests)

Poland's state forest holding, renewing around 60,000 hectares of forest a year across 429 forest districts
About
Państwowe Gospodarstwo Leśne Lasy Państwowe (PGL LP), founded in 1924 and headquartered in Warsaw, manages about 7.6 million hectares of state-owned land, roughly three quarters of Poland's forests, through 17 regional directorates and 429 forest districts (nadleśnictwa). It funds itself mainly from timber sales and carries out the bulk of Poland's forest renewal: in 2024 it renewed or afforested 59,426 hectares (62,675 hectares including the filling of stand gaps), about one fifth of it by natural regeneration, with seedlings raised in its own nurseries. Since 2020 it has run the annual #sadziMY campaign, giving away about one million native seedlings free of charge at every forest district each spring, and it also supports the EU pledge to plant three billion additional trees by 2030.
What they run
Statutory replanting and natural regeneration of harvested or damaged stands on State Forests land, plus afforestation of non-forest land, carried out by the 429 forest districts.
Annual spring campaign (first edition September 2020, run with the Presidential Office) in which foresters hand out about one million native seedlings free of charge at every forest district and in some city centres.
