Amsterdam nature-restoration company planting large-scale forests in Spain, Australia and the US for carbon and CSR
About
Land Life Company is an Amsterdam-based for-profit nature-restoration company (self-described social enterprise) that designs, plants and monitors large-scale reforestation on degraded land for corporate carbon-removal credits and CSR planting programmes, with teams in the Netherlands, Spain (Burgos), Australia (Kyneton, VIC), the US and Iceland. Its ten-year review reports 10 million trees planted and 11,250 hectares restored across 14 countries and 130+ projects; its portfolio page (Nov 2026) cites 12 million+ trees, 16,900 ha restored and 180+ projects, with current projects in Spain, Australia, Indonesia and Mexico. In July 2022 a spark from a contractor's excavator preparing a Land Life planting site near Ateca (Zaragoza, Spain) started a wildfire that burned more than 1,400 hectares within days (later estimates in press coverage were around 14,000 hectares) and forced village evacuations; the company accepted responsibility and apologised.
What they run
Large-scale environmental plantings generating carbon credits, e.g. Merrinee (1,278 ha, 575,281 trees anticipated, 223,535 tCO2), Emu (425 ha) and Navarre (115 ha) in Australia and Aragon in Spain.
Corporate-funded planting programmes such as Borneo orangutan-habitat reforestation (596 ha, 215,000 trees) and Monarch Butterfly Reserve restoration in Mexico (54,000 trees).
