About
The Albertine Rift Conservation Society (ARCOS) is a regional conservation organization founded in 1995 and headquartered in Kigali, with offices in Kampala and Cambridge. It restores degraded landscapes in Rwanda's hills through agroforestry and fruit trees, community nurseries, Eco-Schools and the MuLaKiLa landscape programme in Ngororero and Rutsiro districts, and runs the ARBIMS biodiversity information system. Its 2024 impact report counts 3,080,662 trees planted in 2024 and 11,580,662 since 2021, against a target of 100 million trees planted and grown by 2030.

National tree planting campaign launched in October 2023 with Rwanda's Ministry of Environment and the Rwanda Forestry Authority, planting agroforestry, fruit and indigenous trees with districts and farmer cooperatives.
Landscape restoration programme in Ngororero and Rutsiro districts aiming to plant 6 million trees and restore 22,266 hectares for 40,000 smallholder households.
Environmental education in Rwandan schools, including demonstration tree nurseries that supply seedlings for school and community planting.
