**What you get:** Free trees for neighborhood right-of-way plantings of 30 or more trees; individual street trees planted for $160 (15-gallon) or $300 (30-gallon)

Trees For Houston plants trees in the public right-of-way along Houston streets. Neighborhoods that need at least 30 trees can apply for donated trees, with homeowners installing, watering for two years and maintaining them. Individuals who want a single street tree can pay $160 for a 15-gallon or $300 for a 30-gallon tree, with planting, mulching, staking, fertilizing and first watering included. Residents can also submit potential street tree sites (minimum 25 trees, 4-foot planting space) for sponsor-funded planting.

## Who qualifies

Neighborhood donations require a need of at least 30 trees; smaller requests must coordinate tree pick-up. Submitted street tree sites must need at least 25 trees along a public right-of-way at least 4 feet wide; front-yard locations do not qualify. Species are chosen by availability; hand-tagging trees is not allowed.

## How to apply

Neighborhood donation applications must be submitted between May and July for the upcoming planting year via treesforhouston.org/requests; later applications go on a wait-list. Individual paid street trees and site suggestions: email natalie@treesforhouston.org or call (713) 840-8733.

**When:** Planting November through March; neighborhood applications accepted May through July

**For:** Homeowners, Renters, HOAs, Community groups

> Note: The May-July 2026 application window for the 2026-2027 planting season has passed; new applications are wait-listed for the following year. Trees For Houston says staff can source trees at wholesale cost for time-sensitive wait-listed projects. No City of Houston 311 page for requesting a new street tree was found; 311 handles trimming and hazardous street trees.
