**What you get:** The City plants and maintains a tree on the City-owned road allowance in front of your home or business

Toronto residents can ask the City to plant a tree on the City-owned road allowance (the strip between the roadway and the property line) in front of their home or business. City staff choose the species and exact spot after checking space, soil, sunlight and utilities, then water, mulch, prune and stake the tree as needed. The City also plants on its own initiative and sends a Notice of Planned Tree Planting that residents can cancel within three weeks.

## Who qualifies

The page says a property owner can submit a tree planting request for the City-owned road allowance; anyone can call 311 about trees on City property. Residents are asked to keep a 1.5 m by 1.5 m area clear at the planting site and to water the new tree for its first two to three years.

## How to apply

Call 311 or submit a 'Tree Planting' service request through the City's online 311 form (linked from the tree planting page). The City confirms the species and location after an on-site inspection and gives an approximate planting timeframe.

**For:** Homeowners, Renters, Businesses

> Note: The page does not state a cost; City trees on the road allowance are planted and maintained by the City. The page names property owners as requesters; tenants should check with 311 or their landlord.
