**What you get:** City permit and planting of a street tree in the public right-of-way next to your property

The City of San Jose requires a permit to plant a tree in the park strip or anywhere within 10 feet of the sidewalk curb, and runs a Free Street Tree Planting Program for property owners. Our City Forest can help residents with new permit requests and must see a copy of the permit before providing trees for park strip planting.

## Who qualifies

Property owners in San Jose with a park strip or right-of-way planting site; a city tree permit is required for any tree within 10 feet of the curb.

## How to apply

Apply for a tree permit through the City of San Jose Tree Permits page (sanjoseca.gov, Department of Transportation, Landscaping) or ask Our City Forest for help at streettrees@ourcityforest.org.

**For:** Homeowners

> Note: The City of San Jose program and permit pages returned HTTP 403 and could not be read; permit cost, inspection, watering duties and current program status are unverified. The permit requirement and OCF contact come from Our City Forest's plant-trees page.
