**What you get:** MDC foresters advise any landowner and will write a long-term forest management plan, with free use of mechanical tree planters

MDC offers two levels of help. The Advisory Service is open to all landowners, including urban residents: consultations, publications, insect and disease identification, referrals and help weighing management options. The Management Service is for owners who want a long-term plan: a forester visits the property, provides a map or aerial photo, summarizes options and helps develop the plan, with follow-up on tree planting, timber stand improvement and timber sales.

## Who qualifies

Advisory Service: all landowners, with some on-site visits under certain conditions. Management Service: owners who show proof of ownership (deed or tax receipt), complete a Forest Management Questionnaire and agree to a long-term forest management plan.

## How to apply

Contact your regional MDC office or private land conservationist with the legal description or street address of the land; Management Service applicants complete the Forest Management Questionnaire. Timber sale help requires marked boundaries and a signed Timber Sale Assistance Agreement.

**For:** Landowners, Farmers, Homeowners

> Note: The page does not list cost-share rates or a Forest Cropland tax program; MDC's Community Forestry Cost-Share (for local governments and nonprofits) opens each July on a first-come basis.
