**What you get:** A Park Board-planted boulevard tree in front of your property, paid from the Forestry budget

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board cares for about 200,000 boulevard trees and plants new ones on request. Residents and property owners ask by phone or email; Forestry inspects the spot, checks that money is budgeted, and adds approved sites to the spring planting list. Removed boulevard trees are replanted automatically without a request.

## Who qualifies

"Minneapolis residents and property owners are welcome to request a new boulevard tree." The location must pass an inspection and the tree must fit the Park Board's species-diversity and placement guidelines. Planting your own tree on the boulevard requires a separate permit and you pay the cost.

## How to apply

Call 612-313-7710 or email forestry@minneapolisparks.org. Requests must be received by August 31 to be considered for planting the following spring; later requests roll to the year after.

**When:** Requests accepted year-round; August 31 deadline for next spring's planting list

**For:** Homeowners, Renters

> Note: The page does not state a fee for requested trees; it says Forestry confirms "there is enough money budgeted for the tree planting." The former Minneapolis City Trees low-cost sale could not be found on the Park Board site; see the Tree Trust sales entry for discounted yard trees.
