**What you get:** A field visit by a team of resource professionals and a customized ten-year forest management plan

State-delivered version of the USDA Forest Stewardship Program. Landowners get a field meeting with foresters and wildlife biologists, a written plan with a ten-year timeline, documentation of active management that can help with tax classification, a quarterly newsletter from UF/IFAS, and the chance to be recognized as a certified Forest Steward.

## Who qualifies

Private forest landowners with at least 10 acres of forest land; neighbors with similar goals may combine land to reach the minimum. Owners of more than 160 acres are encouraged to use a private consultant to write the plan.

## How to apply

Contact your Florida Forest Service county forester and ask for a Forest Stewardship Plan, then complete the Stewardship Application and mail it to the Conservation Programs Manager, Florida Forest Service, 3125 Conner Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32399-1650. A site meeting is scheduled after the application is received. Contact: Will Liner, (850) 545-6194, William.Liner@FDACS.gov.

**For:** Landowners, Farmers

> Note: No program fee is stated; funding to pay consultants to write plans is available in some cases (plans with hurricane-resilience or longleaf elements).
