**What you get:** A city-planted street tree on the berm (the strip between sidewalk and street) in your neighborhood

Detroit's Forestry Division plants thousands of trees a year on residential berms, streets, parks and other public right-of-way, as funding allows. Residents can ask for a tree to be planted in their neighborhood through the Request A City Tree online form. Planting locations are chosen using canopy data, available space, utility clearances, site inspections and resident requests.

## Who qualifies

The city pages do not state who may submit a request. Trees are planted in the public right-of-way (the berm), not on private property; the city notes the berm is "generally part of the public right-of-way, making it the primary location for City street tree planting."

## How to apply

Submit the Request A City Tree form (Smartsheet) linked from the Tree Planting Program page, or call the Tree Planting Program at 313-628-0229. General forestry questions: (313) 871-5461.

**For:** Homeowners, Renters

> Note: The city page does not state cost, planting season or eligibility; trees are planted "as funding allows." The request form is at https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/396efe007f9549b7af1d66b0fe992a62 but its fields could not be read.
