**What you get:** Up to 7 free 5-gallon shade trees per household delivered to your door

City Plants, a City of Los Angeles program funded by the LA Department of Water and Power, delivers free shade trees for residents to plant in their own yards. Trees come in 5-gallon containers, 3 to 5 feet tall, with more than 30 water-efficient species to choose from. The LA Conservation Corps delivers in about 8 to 10 weeks and you plant and water them yourself.

## Who qualifies

Residents of the City of Los Angeles; the page states a 7 tree limit per household. The delivery page itself does not spell out further requirements (the related adoption page requires a City of LA address proven by photo ID or LADWP bill).

## How to apply

Apply online through the FreeTreesLA registration form linked from the Yard Tree Delivery page (optimized for Chrome on a PC or laptop; allow pop-ups). Trees are delivered in 8-10 weeks. Call DigAlert at 811 before digging, plant 15-20 feet from the foundation, and water 10-15 gallons once a week for the first 3-5 years.

**For:** Homeowners, Renters

> Note: Tree stock changes with nursery availability; species options may change between ordering and delivery.
