**What you get:** Council plants and maintains street trees at no cost; residents can contact the tree management team about planting and report tree issues online

The City of Sydney plants, prunes and removes street trees across the local government area and runs an in-road planting program (about 1,800 trees across 192 streets over 10 years) toward its canopy target. Only the council may plant street trees. Residents contact the tree management team by phone and report problems with public trees through an online form.

## Who qualifies

Anyone in the City of Sydney local government area; applies to trees on public or council-owned land. Residents may not plant street trees themselves unless it is a condition of a development approval.

## How to apply

Phone the tree management team on 02 9265 9333 to ask about planting outside your property. Report a problem with a public tree via the 'Make a report' online form (describe the work needed, attach up to five photos). Pruning requests go through the online tree maintenance form.

**When:** Street tree planting is done in the cooler months, March to October

**For:** Homeowners, Renters, Businesses

> Note: The council page does not publish a dedicated 'request a new street tree' form; the phone line is the stated contact for tree matters. New in-road plantings are chosen by the council and put to community consultation.
