## About

Trees Winnipeg, legally the Coalition to Save the Elms, Manitoba Inc., was founded in 1992 by neighbourhood groups fighting Dutch elm disease and now works to protect, preserve and promote Winnipeg's urban forest. Its ReLeaf Tree Planting Program sells discounted, Manitoba-grown trees to homeowners each spring and fall, with a trunk guard, care booklet and arborist consultation at pickup, supported by the City of Winnipeg. With the City it leads the One Million Tree Challenge, launched in 2019 to plant a million new trees as Winnipeg's population approaches one million, and it runs Arbor Day, the Community Tree Planter Certificate, Trees for Schools, Manitoba Heritage Trees and Ask an Arborist programs.

> Note: Trees Winnipeg's ReLeaf totals differ by source and date: the program page on treeswinnipeg.org says 7,890 trees sold from 2016 to the end of 2024, while the ReLeaf sale site (releaf.tw) says over 9,500 trees in one place and 8,120 in another after the Fall 2026 sale. The One Million Tree Challenge counter (9,150 as of November 2026) counts registered trees from many planters, including ReLeaf purchasers, and the site says it does not capture every tree planted under the challenge.
