## About

Trees for Life is a Scottish charity (SC021303) founded by Alan Watson Featherstone in 1986 as a Findhorn Foundation project and registered as an independent charity in 1993; it is based at Findhorn Bay, Forres. It restores the native Caledonian Forest in Glen Affric, on its 4,100-hectare Dundreggan estate (bought in 2008, now home to a rewilding centre and tree nursery) and at partner sites, through volunteer planting weeks, natural regeneration, seed collection of rare montane species and wildlife reintroductions.

## Programs

- **Dundreggan estate** — Reforestation (2008–present): 4,100-hectare Highland estate in Glenmoriston bought in 2008 for forest restoration, now home to the Dundreggan Rewilding Centre and tree nursery. https://treesforlife.org.uk/about-us/annual-review-2024-25/
- **Tree Seed Collection Project** — Seed collection (2024–present): Volunteers collect seed from rare native species in surviving ancient woodland and rainforest fragments; 2.2 million seeds collected in 2024/25, enough to grow 1.5 million trees. https://treesforlife.org.uk/about-us/annual-review-2024-25/
- **Rewilding Weeks** — Reforestation (1991–present): Residential volunteer weeks planting trees and supporting natural regeneration at Dundreggan, Glen Affric and partner sites. https://treesforlife.org.uk/support/volunteer/rewilding-weeks/
