## About

The Tree Council has worked for trees since 1974 and runs National Tree Week each winter along with the volunteer Tree Warden network, which has a branch in most parts of the country. Its grants put free trees, hedges and orchards into schools and community spaces, and in 2026 it reopened the National Highways Community Trees programme for groups in England. Its guidance pages cover how to care for a newly planted tree through its first dry summer.
