## About

Centro de Estudos Rioterra is a Brazilian nonprofit founded in Porto Velho in 1999 that restores degraded Amazon land in Rondônia and neighbouring states. It runs a nursery in Itapuã do Oeste with capacity for up to 3 million seedlings, plants native species in riparian and legal-reserve areas under its Foresting 4Us campaign, and implements cocoa and açaí agroforestry systems with smallholders through projects such as Cacau Amazônia+ and Quintais Amazônicos. In 2025 it produced 1.1 million native seedlings, planted 991,640 of them and restored 542 hectares.

## Programs

- **Foresting 4Us** — Reforestation (2020–present): Umbrella forest-restoration campaign created in 2020 that pools projects and funders to restore Amazon forest cover, with a goal of 30 million native seedlings planted by 2030.
- **Itapuã do Oeste nursery** — Nurseries & seedlings: Native-species nursery in Itapuã do Oeste, Rondônia, with production capacity of up to 3 million seedlings a year.
- **Cacau Amazônia+** — Agroforestry: Implements cocoa-based agroforestry systems with family farmers in Rondônia, combining cocoa, banana and açaí with recovery of permanent preservation areas.

## Metrics

> Note: Rioterra's 2025 report lists lifetime 'global numbers' of 10 million native seedlings produced and donated, 1 million hectares of conserved land and 2 million hectares of land restored in the Amazon, but the page layout leaves the hectare labels ambiguous and the organization reported 542 hectares restored in 2025 alone, so only the seedling total is recorded here as a cumulative figure. The 151,336 Cacau Amazônia+ seedlings are cocoa, banana and açaí agroforestry plants, not all trees.
