## About

Ecology Ottawa has handed out free native tree seedlings for private yards since 2013, when the emerald ash borer began thinning the city's canopy. In 2026 it added Trees for Today, which works with six community associations to give away larger native saplings with planting guidance and a follow-up visit. You can pick up a seedling at a giveaway, co-host one on your street, or join the volunteer Tree Team.
