## About

Bosques Sostenibles SL is a Santander-based company that designs, plants and maintains "corporate forests" for companies and individuals wanting to offset CO2 emissions. It typically works on fire-damaged or degraded public forest land (montes de utilidad pública) under agreements with regional governments and municipalities, which cede the CO2 fixation rights for 40 years in exchange for free reforestation; projects include the Valle de Iruelas and Navalacruz in Ávila (burnt in 2019 and 2021), Mijares, Las Rozas (Madrid), Viu de Llevata (Lleida) and Soraluze (Gipuzkoa). Its website reports more than 52 projects since 2011, 1,350,000 trees planted, 940 hectares repopulated, 240,000 tCO2 and 18,800 days of local employment, with about 300 companies and 95 individuals as offset clients. It says it is working toward B Corp certification; it publishes no annual report.

## Programs

- **Proyectos colaborativos de reforestación** — Carbon offset planting: Shared reforestation sites (Iruelas, Las Rozas, Viu de Llevata, Mijares, Navalacruz, Soraluze) where companies and individuals buy trees to offset emissions; each project has a public page and map. https://www.bosquessostenibles.com/nuestros-proyectos/
- **Valle de Iruelas post-fire reforestation (Ávila)** — Disaster & fire recovery (2021–present): Reforestation of public forests 60 and 88 in the Valle de Iruelas and Sotillo de la Adrada burnt in July 2019, under agreements with the Junta de Castilla y León, the Asocio de Ávila and the Sotillo town council, at no cost to the owners in exchange for 40 years of CO2 rights. https://www.bosquessostenibles.com/a/proyectos-colaborativos-reforestacion/iruelas

## Metrics

> Note: Bosques Sostenibles publishes no annual report, so only cumulative snapshots exist: more than 290,000 trees and 190 ha in December 2017 (press), nearly 500,000 trees and 201 ha in January 2024 (founder interview), and 1,350,000 trees and 940 ha on its website in November 2026. The jump between early 2024 and 2026 is not explained by any published breakdown. The founding year is inferred from the website's 'más de 52 proyectos desde 2011' and 'más de 15 años de experiencia'; the legal form (SL) comes from a 2022 Ávilared article. HQ is Santander (Parque Científico y Tecnológico de Cantabria), not Madrid.
