## About

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN) is an independent non-profit founded in Amman, Jordan, in 2003 to protect the environment and natural resources of Arab countries, with a focus on areas affected by war and occupation. Its Million Tree Campaign, launched in 2001 under the slogan 'They uproot one tree, we plant ten', supplies fruit trees (mainly olive) to Palestinian farmers whose land is threatened, and had planted three million trees across Palestine by the end of 2024, 99,458 of them in that year; its Green Caravan programme, started in 2003, has planted 234,511 fruit trees in Jordan. APN also runs the Revive Gaza's Farmland project (from March 2024), Together for Lebanon's Olives, and the If Only You Knew school awareness programme, and publishes annual reports in English and Arabic. Its website counter showed 3,429,444 trees planted, 165,141 dunums and 51,550 farmers supported in November 2026.

## Programs

- **Million Tree Campaign (MTC)** — Food forests & orchards (2001–present): Since 2001, provides fruit trees (mostly olive) and support to Palestinian farmers in the West Bank and Gaza whose trees were uprooted or whose land is at risk; in its fourth million since 2024. https://apnature.org/en/programmes/million-tree-campaign-mtc
- **Green Caravan (Jordan)** — Agroforestry (2003–present): Since 2003, plants fruit trees and provides irrigation pipes, ponds and beehives to small farmers across Jordan to expand green cover and food security. https://apnature.org/en/programmes/green-caravan
- **Revive Gaza's Farmland** — Agroforestry (2024–present): Launched March 2024; by end-2024 had cultivated 962 dunums with fast-yielding vegetables and rehabilitated 17 greenhouses for 422 farmers in Gaza. https://apnature.org/en/programmes/revive-gazas-farmland-project

## Metrics

> Note: APN's trees are fruit trees (mostly olive) planted on farmers' land, not forest restoration. The 2024 annual report gives three million MTC trees in Palestine by end-2024 and 234,511 Green Caravan trees in Jordan; the homepage counter of 3,429,444 trees (read Nov 2026) is the organisation-wide running total and is not broken down by year. Dunums converted to hectares at 10 to 1. Substituted for the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative, whose website (lri-lb.org) is a JavaScript shell that served no content or figures when opened in November 2026.
