## Description

Love is in the air! It’s breeding season for the state-endangered Streamside Salamander, meaning these adorable palm-sized amphibians are currently at their most active. Bring your special someone and explore a local stream alongside the Cumberland River Compact and Streamside Salamander expert David Withers from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. In this walk and talk, you will learn about these fascinating critters, how to protect them, and (most likely) have the chance to look at a few up close!
This one-of-a-kind Valentine’s date (or friend date, or family activity!) will be a hit with fans of the outdoors, biology, or cute creepy-crawlies! Registration is required.
This unique educational experience is free and open to the public, and appropriate for guests of all ages and knowledge levels. Young children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. This event will occur rain or shine, so please check the weather before attending and be prepared. Participants will be expected to walk in and along a shallow stream, so please wear waterproof boots and bring your own water bottle.

Checking In: The experience will begin promptly at 9:30 AM in Gallatin. Please plan to arrive roughly 10 minutes early so we can check you in and start on time. True to the event title, we’ll be walking as we talk, so you may be left behind if you’re late (and we don’t want that!).
Meeting Point: We will be meeting at 225 Big Station Camp Blvd, Gallatin, TN 37066. Please meet at the rear of the hospital parking lot. Do not enter the hospital or park near the emergency room entrance. We must be courteous to those trying to utilize emergency services, and that includes parking only in the furthest spots away from the building.
Carpooling: If you’re attending with a friend or group, we strongly encourage carpooling where possible– both for the planet, and to leave spots open for patients.
What to Wear: We will be walking in and along a shallow stream, so please wear waterproof shoes and bring your own water to drink. The entire experience will take place outside, so dress warmly!
Weather: This event will occur rain or shine. Check the weather before attending and be prepared with an umbrella, rain jacket, or cold-weather clothing.
