Seven district foresters, each covering 10 to 23 counties, make site visits and recommend forest and windbreak management, tree planting, timber stand improvement, harvest and protection; write Forest Stewardship or forest management plans; mark stands for improvement; help with planting, including access to tree-planting equipment; inspect Tree Farms; provide timber marketing materials and buyer lists; and connect landowners with financial assistance. Funding comes mainly from the USDA Forest Service Forest Stewardship Program, with NRCS and the Kansas Department of Agriculture Division of Conservation.","eligibility":"Private landowners in Kansas. Site visits are not provided for non-forest or agroforest land generally less than 10 acres, for individual sick-tree calls (go to K-State Extension), or for services that compete with private forestry or tree service businesses. Foresters do not mark or administer timber sales, represent landowners in sale negotiations, or give appraisals or tax advice.","how_to_apply":"Click your home county on the map on the Rural Forestry page to find your Rural District Forester, or call the Kansas Forest Service at 785-532-3300 or email kfs@ksu.edu. Foresters prioritize requests and it sometimes takes several weeks to visit a property.","url":"https://www.kansasforests.org/rural_forestry/servicesandlandownerassistance.html","source_url":"https://www.kansasforests.org/rural_forestry/servicesandlandownerassistance.html","season":null,"program_status":"active","lat":null,"lng":null,"data_note":"The page does not state a fee for services.
