It pays for reforestation of former pine monocultures or high-graded hardwood stands (oak, shortleaf pine, Atlantic white cedar, bald cypress, pitch pine), afforestation with any native species except loblolly pine, removal of plants on the Delaware Invasive Species Council list, and prescribed fire including fire breaks and burn plans. Site preparation, post-planting maintenance and tree shelters are eligible. Most payments are at 90 percent; landowners who have owned Delaware forestland for 10 years or less, own in priority areas, are limited-resource producers, or are veterans honorably discharged in the prior 10 years get 100 percent. Fire and invasive work is reimbursed after verification; tree planting is paid directly to suppliers and contractors.","eligibility":"Non-industrial private forestland owners, homeowners' associations, nonprofits, municipalities and county governments. Projects must be at least 3 acres, and the landowner cannot own more than 10,000 forested acres in Delaware. A Forest Stewardship Plan is required for owners who have, or will have after planting, 10 forested acres. Work done before signing a contract is not reimbursable.","how_to_apply":"Complete the Delaware W-9 online form, register as a supplier in the state eSupplier portal and get a UEI number at SAM.gov, then submit the fillable Landowner Application PDF from the page. Prescribed fire and invasive species applications need three contractor bids; tree planting does not. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and approved first come, first served as funding allows.
