Landowners who make significant progress can be nominated and certified as forest stewards, receiving a certificate and a sign. Separately, Forestry Division foresters offer free technical assistance on request: land examinations, written management plans, sample timber sale contracts and market lists, insect and disease help, information on cost-share programs covering 50 percent or more of tree planting and timber stand improvement costs, and timber tax information. Fire lane construction ($85 per hour) and prescribed burning ($50 per acre, $575 minimum) are fee-based.","eligibility":"Private landowners who own a minimum of 10 acres of forest and want to manage the land for its many resources.
