{"slug":"treeslouisville","name":"TreesLouisville","tagline":"Louisville nonprofit planting and giving away thousands of trees a year toward an equitable community canopy","description":"TreesLouisville was founded in 2015 in response to Louisville, Kentucky's declining tree canopy and works to grow a robust, equitable community forest, focusing on neighborhoods with the least canopy. Its programs include K-12 Campus Reforestation plantings at Jefferson County Public Schools, the NeighborWoods residential planting program in west Louisville zip codes (part of a 10,000-tree Rubbertown corridor goal), free Tree Adoptions, the Canopy Corps trained-volunteer program, a Green Team that prunes and waters young trees, the Treesilience program removing and replacing hazardous trees for homeowners at no cost, and the annual TreeFest and Tree Week celebrations. It led Louisville's Urban Forest Master Plan (completed 2025) and is renovating The Canopy Center in Shelby Park as its headquarters; in the 2025-26 season it planted 1,936 trees and adopted out 1,575, and reports more than 25,000 trees planted and given away since 2015.","website_url":"https://treeslouisville.org","logo_url":null,"founded_year":2015,"org_type":"nonprofit","scope":"local","headquarters":{"city":"Louisville","region":"Kentucky","country":"US","lat":38.2527,"lng":-85.7585},"volunteer_url":"https://volunteer.bloomerang.co/JE/c7bj09113wn1iz","donation_url":"https://secure.qgiv.com/for/treeslouisville/","events_url":"https://treeslouisville.org/calendar","featured":false,"trees_on_record":25000,"primary_activity":"urban-forestry","activities":[{"slug":"urban-forestry","name":"Urban forestry","primary":true},{"slug":"tree-adoption-giveaway","name":"Tree adoption & giveaways","primary":false},{"slug":"tree-care-maintenance","name":"Tree care & maintenance","primary":false},{"slug":"education-advocacy","name":"Education & advocacy","primary":false}],"updated_at":"2026-11-08T00:02:16.194Z","url":"https://treerm.org/org/treeslouisville","markdown_url":"https://treerm.org/org/treeslouisville.md","api_url":"https://treerm.org/api/v1/organizations/treeslouisville","data_note":"TreesLouisville reports by planting season (roughly November to spring): 1,936 trees planted and 1,575 adopted in 2025-26, and 1,962 planted and 1,536 adopted in 2024-25.
