It runs volunteer Community Tree Plantings at parks, schools, greenways and bus stops, free Tree Adoption giveaways for residents, Canopies for Campuses plantings at Knox County Schools, and a free four-week Volunteer Forester training course each fall and spring. It helped produce Knoxville's Urban Forest Master Plan (adopted by the city in December 2024) and received a $1.7 million USDA Forest Service Inflation Reduction Act grant in 2024; in 2025 it planted 895 trees and gave away 450.","website_url":"https://treesknoxville.org","logo_url":null,"founded_year":2016,"org_type":"nonprofit","scope":"local","headquarters":{"city":"Knoxville","region":"Tennessee","country":"US","lat":35.9606,"lng":-83.9207},"volunteer_url":"https://treesknoxville.org/volunteer-with-us/","donation_url":"https://treesknoxville.org/support/","events_url":"https://treesknoxville.org/events/","featured":false,"trees_on_record":2090,"primary_activity":"urban-forestry","activities":[{"slug":"urban-forestry","name":"Urban forestry","primary":true},{"slug":"tree-adoption-giveaway","name":"Tree adoption & giveaways","primary":false},{"slug":"tree-care-maintenance","name":"Tree care & maintenance","primary":false},{"slug":"education-advocacy","name":"Education & advocacy","primary":false}],"updated_at":"2026-11-08T00:02:16.194Z","url":"https://treerm.org/org/trees-knoxville","markdown_url":"https://treerm.org/org/trees-knoxville.md","api_url":"https://treerm.org/api/v1/organizations/trees-knoxville","data_note":"Trees Knoxville's 2024 figures differ slightly between documents: the 2024 annual report infographic says 350 trees were given away, while the Form 990-EZ for the same year says 395 trees were given away; the 990-EZ figure is used here.
