Its nursery at Ferrymead sells to the public, winter orders open in advance, and community planting events are listed on its calendar. The nursery also trains and employs people who have struggled to find work.","website_url":"https://treesforcanterbury.org.nz","tier":"listed","resident_offers":["free_trees","volunteer","discounted_trees"],"listed_source_url":"https://treesforcanterbury.org.nz/were-giving-away-free-plants/","logo_url":null,"founded_year":1990,"org_type":"social_enterprise","scope":"regional","headquarters":{"city":"Christchurch","region":"Canterbury","country":"NZ","lat":-43.532,"lng":172.636},"volunteer_url":"https://treesforcanterbury.org.nz/planting-events/","donation_url":"https://treesforcanterbury.org.nz/donation-options/","events_url":"https://treesforcanterbury.org.nz/community-news/events-calendar/","featured":false,"trees_on_record":0,"primary_activity":"nursery-seedling-production","activities":[{"slug":"nursery-seedling-production","name":"Nurseries & seedlings","primary":true},{"slug":"reforestation","name":"Reforestation","primary":false},{"slug":"tree-adoption-giveaway","name":"Tree adoption & giveaways","primary":false}],"updated_at":"2026-11-08T02:21:52.718Z","url":"https://treerm.org/org/trees-for-canterbury","markdown_url":"https://treerm.org/org/trees-for-canterbury.md","api_url":"https://treerm.org/api/v1/organizations/trees-for-canterbury","data_note":null,"derived":{"annual_trees":[],"latest_annual":null,"yoy":null,"cagr":null,"dollars_raised_per_tree":null,"cost_per_tree":null,"trees_per_volunteer":null,"survival":null,"hectares":null,"transparency":{"score":0,"label":"Opaque","points":[{"key":"annual","label":"Publishes annual tree figures","earned":0,"max":20,"why":"No year-by-year figures found"},{"key":"recent","label":"Figures are recent","earned":0,"max":15,"why":"No dated annual figure"},{"key":"sourced","label":"Every figure has a public source","earned":0,"max":10,"why":"No figures on record"},{"key":"money","label":"Publishes financials or cost per tree","earned":0,"max":15,"why":"No financial figure on record"},{"key":"survival","label":"Reports survival or monitoring","earned":0,"max":15,"why":"No survival or monitoring figure on record"},{"key":"verified","label":"Independently verified figure","earned":0,"max":10,"why":"Every figure is the organization's own count"},{"key":"programs","label":"Breaks figures down by program","earned":0,"max":10,"why":"No program breakdown"},{"key":"people","label":"Reports volunteers or events","earned":0,"max":5,"why":"No volunteer figures or events on record"}]},"methodology":"https://treerm.org/methodology"},"countries":["NZ"],"social_links":{"instagram":"https://www.instagram.com/treesforcanterbury","facebook":"https://www.facebook.com/Trees4Canterbury"},"programs":[],"metrics":[],"upcoming_events":[],"license":"CC-BY-4.0"}
