{"slug":"the-tree-council","name":"The Tree Council","tagline":"UK charity behind Tree Wardens and National Tree Week; funds free trees for schools and communities","description":"The Tree Council has worked for trees since 1974 and runs National Tree Week each winter along with the volunteer Tree Warden network, which has a branch in most parts of the country. Its grants put free trees, hedges and orchards into schools and community spaces, and in 2026 it reopened the National Highways Community Trees programme for groups in England. Its guidance pages cover how to care for a newly planted tree through its first dry summer.","website_url":"https://treecouncil.org.uk","tier":"listed","resident_offers":["volunteer","free_trees","tree_care_help","education"],"listed_source_url":"https://treecouncil.org.uk/","logo_url":null,"founded_year":1974,"org_type":"nonprofit","scope":"national","headquarters":{"city":"London","region":"England","country":"GB","lat":51.507,"lng":-0.128},"volunteer_url":"https://treecouncil.org.uk/tree-wardens/","donation_url":"https://treecouncil.org.uk/donate-to-plant-and-protect-trees/","events_url":"https://treecouncil.org.uk/events/","featured":false,"trees_on_record":0,"primary_activity":"education-advocacy","activities":[{"slug":"education-advocacy","name":"Education & advocacy","primary":true},{"slug":"urban-forestry","name":"Urban forestry","primary":false},{"slug":"tree-adoption-giveaway","name":"Tree adoption & giveaways","primary":false}],"updated_at":"2026-11-08T02:21:52.718Z","url":"https://treerm.org/org/the-tree-council","markdown_url":"https://treerm.org/org/the-tree-council.md","api_url":"https://treerm.org/api/v1/organizations/the-tree-council","data_note":null,"derived":{"annual_trees":[],"latest_annual":null,"yoy":null,"cagr":null,"dollars_raised_per_tree":null,"cost_per_tree":null,"trees_per_volunteer":null,"survival":null,"hectares":null,"transparency":{"score":0,"label":"Opaque","points":[{"key":"annual","label":"Publishes annual tree figures","earned":0,"max":20,"why":"No year-by-year figures found"},{"key":"recent","label":"Figures are recent","earned":0,"max":15,"why":"No dated annual figure"},{"key":"sourced","label":"Every figure has a public source","earned":0,"max":10,"why":"No figures on record"},{"key":"money","label":"Publishes financials or cost per tree","earned":0,"max":15,"why":"No financial figure on record"},{"key":"survival","label":"Reports survival or monitoring","earned":0,"max":15,"why":"No survival or monitoring figure on record"},{"key":"verified","label":"Independently verified figure","earned":0,"max":10,"why":"Every figure is the organization's own count"},{"key":"programs","label":"Breaks figures down by program","earned":0,"max":10,"why":"No program breakdown"},{"key":"people","label":"Reports volunteers or events","earned":0,"max":5,"why":"No volunteer figures or events on record"}]},"methodology":"https://treerm.org/methodology"},"countries":["GB"],"social_links":{"instagram":"https://www.instagram.com/thetreecouncil","facebook":"https://www.facebook.com/treecounciluk","x":"https://twitter.com/TheTreeCouncil","linkedin":"https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-tree-council","youtube":"https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBpxum-fxR-J-3blIMznf_g"},"programs":[],"metrics":[],"upcoming_events":[],"license":"CC-BY-4.0"}
